Why should tax payers have to pay for murderers to be kept alive in jail?

Tax payers should pay to keep murderers alive in jail because killing, for any reason whatsoever, is wrong. Killing a murderer is the same thing as killing anyone else, and killing is killing. Since murdering is against the law, the state shouldn't have to murder a murderer just because they murdered somebody.
This way, their right to life is still kept, just far away from anyone else so the murderer can do no harm to anyone.

Who is in jail? If the child is in jail, they have custody. If the adult is in jail, they should never get custody. If the spouse is in jail they should not get custody. Jail would have no bearing on the time of custody, just who should be able to even see the child.
