Why should water be conserve?

Water should be conserved because the water on Earth is limited, and most of Earth's water is ocean water, which is not drinkable because it has salt.

It is a mistake to think that any water we use will quickly recycled by the earth - quicly cleaned by sand or quickly evaporated into air and come down as rain.

The water we use is simply too dirty to be cleaned by the natural processes of the earth, so we have to clean it ourselves, or wait a lot longer before the water can become drinkable. If we conserve water, the cost of keeping it clean will reduce accordingly.

Additionally, much of the water we drink comes from underground wells and it took years, even decades for the water to get there. When it rains, or when you water the lawn or wash the car, how long do you think it takes for the water to get down to a place it can come out of a well? (In fact you want it to take a long time so it can get cleaned and filtered by the earth.) The more people there are in an area, the more the water is pulled out of the ground and held not useful for a long time.

With the very real possiblity of droughts, we can't afford to be living on the edge. There are already other forces in play that affect our drinking water - cutting down of forests, desertification, construction on watersheds, global warming etc. Conserving water increases the chance that there will be drinkable water for all in the future.
