The Mass is the re-presentation of Our Blessed Lord's sacrifice of Himself on Calvary for your salvation. Through the miracle of God, what you witness at Mass, under the forms of bread and wine, is the actual, historical event of Calvary. There is not difference, spiritually between your presence at Mass and Our Blessed Lady standing under the cross 2,000 years ago. Further, as many people do not realize the fullness of the honor and blessing involved in being at Mass, the Church requires the attendance of anyone who is a Catholic at Mass every single Sunday and Holy Day.

The Holy Mass is the re-presentation of Our Blessed Savior's death on the cross for the salvation of the world. It is through the Mass that He applies these graces to the world, and to each individual. We can do nothing more grace-filled for our salvation and to worthily attend Mass, and USE those graces out in the world.

Roman Catholic AnswerThe Mass is the re-presentation of the Sacrifice of Our Blessed Lord on Calvary. In other words, it is like a time warp: when you are attending Mass you are actually witnessing the one and only event wherein Jesus Christ died for your sins on the Cross on Calvary in 33 A.D. Before your eyes, God has worked (and continues to work) a miracle so that you can be present when He effected salvation for you and every other person that ever lived on the face of the earth. There is no greater miracle, no greater love, no greater being than God, and you are face to face with Him, and His greatest act done personally for you. The benefits of such an act of attending the Most Holy Eucharist are uncountable and unknowable this side of Paradise. The consequences of ignoring this unbelievable act of love and abasement of God Almighty are eternal separation from Him: hell.
