12 carat gold is half of 24 carat gold, which is considered "pure gold"...so 12 carat gold is 50% real gold
22C is 22 carat - the purity level of the gold.
By multiplying the weight of gold in 24Ct With 1.084 to convert it to 22 ct eg:- 33gm gold of purity 24ct is equals to 35.772 gm of gold with purity 22 ct
It is used to measure the purity of gold alloys. One karat (or carat) is equal to 1/24 purity by mass.
23/24 should be pure & if 1/24 = about 4% then this is 96% pure
the carat of gold refers to its purity. 24k is pure gold.

A carat has different meanings in different contexts. As a unit of mass for precious stones, a carat is 1/5 of a gram.As a unit of purity on gold and other valuable metals, carat means a fraction with a denominator of 24. Thus, 24-carat gold is pure gold, 12-carat gold has 50% gold, etc.A carat has different meanings in different contexts. The numbers are probably an indication of the purity of the gold. Pure gold is 24 carat but 22 carat, 18 carat, 14 carat and 9 carat are all common.
Carat is an indicator of weight; karat is an indicator of purity. Diamonds are measured in carats; gold is measured in karats. So, how big is a karat of gold? It can be as small as a molecule. There is no limit to how large a karat (purity) of gold can be.

it means your gold is of 22 carat purity

The carat (abbreviation ct or Kt) is a measure of the purity of gold Therefore 24-carat gold is fine (99.9% Au w/w), 18-carat gold is 75% gold, 12-carat gold is 50% gold, etc.
23/24 should be pure & if 1/24 = about 4% then this is 96% pure
Not carrot, carat! Carat is a measure of gold purity it is twenty-fourths by weight. All pure gold is by definition 24 carat. There is a lot of massive gold that is mined, it all has 24 carat purity but is often mixed with other minerals (not other metals so much but I guess that does happen too).
