A student of history will sooner or later learn about the religion of the people at the time in history that he or she is studying; a student of religion will learn about the history of the times when the religion evolved. Care must be taken because followers of each religion may have, from ancient times, created legends that are not necessarily dissimilar to the true history of the times but nevertheless do not accurately reflect events that actually happened.

Those who are themselves Christian would also learn the religion of Jesus Christ to the extent that this is taught, particularly in non-government schools. Mormons, Muslims and others should learn their own religion or ethical principles.
