It is important to protect your computer system from viruses for a multitude of reasons. Some reasons include to avoid identity theft with the virus submitting sensitive data from your computer back to its author to try make money out of, another reason being viruses can slow your computer down so much it renders it useless causing you to lose your files if not backed up and of course your computer setting you back a grand in buying a new one and another reason being loss of your data and not getting it back until you agree to pay the author money which is basically bribery
