most people abandon their pets because they don't want to take care of/ deal with them anymore. The best way to solve the problem is to spay and neuter so there aren't excess pets that are euthanized in shelters.
No. The owner is still responsible, and can be fined or even jailed for abandoning pets.

Well, this is certainly an opinion question! My opinion is that anyone who abuses - that means causing unnecessary pain and suffering - any living being should be punished by having the same thing done to them! Or send them to jail if you don't want to torture them yourself. In my opinion they should and do, a man once went to jail for 5 years because he beat up a kitten.I am sure you can find many other stories and protests on the subject.
sloth bears connot be pets. are endangered and keeping as pets will put you in jail
People do not normally eat their pets.
lots of people have "friends" that are pets
I believe it depends on the level of abuse that the animals sustained. I am certain that someone can serve significant jail time for animal abuse, possibly even longer than 3 months, again depending on the specific crime.
Pets are alkie by entertaning people and relaying on people.
People have pets as a friend, as entertainment, and to have something to care for.
There are a number of ways that people harm animals. Hunting is one way that animals are harmed. Taking away their habitat for building is another way that animals are harmed. Throwing pets out of the house and making them strays harms pets.
