Why so many ladyboys in Thailand?

I think it is because of the uni-sex culture. I live in Thailand and yes there seems to be more ladyboys than biological females. At the school where I work as an English teacher, girls and boys from kinder to sixth grade share bathrooms. All of the male teachers are homosexuals. The bathroom faces the stairwell so that anyone going up or down can see the little boys taking a pee. Boys are treated harshly by the male and female teachers. They quickly realize that being a girl will get them better treatment. I actually witnessed a rowdy little boy receivng corporal punishment so much that he began crossing his legs and taking on feminine qualities. It is not that transexuality is so much loosely accepted as it is purely condoned. In Thailand sex sells. Many places, even at my school, homosexuality is encouraged as a means to satisfy the cravings of homosexual/bisexual tourist to keep them coming back. It is all about the baht (money). Many males are raised to be this way. I do mean to imply that some transexuals do not choose to be like this. Just saying that most of what I've seen is a culture that depends on this lifestyle as a way of bringing in money.
