heat its self is just an illusion when ever something is heat all that happens is the molecules become energized and vibrate more causeing them to spread out and thus expand

What happens to a solid when is heated?

A substance in the solid phase will typically expand when heated. Most substances when heated sufficiently will melt into a liquid, assuming that they do not combust or sublimate.

Which of these does not expand liquid solid or gas?

All of them can expand - for example, when they are heated. Gases usually expand more than solids or liquids.

Solid liquid or gas expand the most when heated?

Gases expand the most when heated compared to solids and liquids. This is because the particles in a gas have more kinetic energy and move more freely than particles in a solid or liquid, allowing for greater expansion when heated.

Wich state of matter expands the most when heated?

gas expand more than liquid and liquid expand more than solid.

Why does solid expand on heating?

The particles in a solid, move very little. But when it is heated, the particles expand because the heat moves the particles around more, making them need more space to move, therefore expanding the solid. =)

Do liquids expand faster when heated than solid?

Yes, liquids generally expand more than solids when heated because their particles have more freedom to move and take up more space. This increased molecular motion in liquids allows them to expand faster compared to the more rigid structure of solid materials.

Why do solids expand when heated even though their mass does not change?

When solids are heated, the atoms or molecules within them vibrate faster and with greater energy, causing them to spread out slightly. This increase in vibration leads to the expansion of the solid even though the mass remains the same.

Does a solid particle expand when the spaces between its particles get larger when heated?

Yes, when heated, the particles within a solid gain energy and vibrate more, causing the spaces between them to increase. This expansion leads to the solid particle itself expanding in size.

What does heat cause?

Heat causes ojects to expand . The object also will melt if it is a solid , and will turn into gas if heated.

Oil expand or contract when heated?

Oil does expand when heated and contracts when cooled.

What happens to soilds when they are heated?

When solids are heated, their particles absorb energy and vibrate more vigorously, causing the solid to expand. This increase in kinetic energy can lead to the solid eventually melting into a liquid, as the particles break free from their fixed positions.

What happens to particles in a solid when they are heated or cooled?

When a solid is heated, the particles gain energy, leading to increased movement and vibration. This causes the particles to expand, leading to an increase in volume. Conversely, when a solid is cooled, the particles lose energy, resulting in decreased movement and contraction, which decreases the volume of the solid.
