Why study social science?

Here are some reasons to study social studies:

• ANYTHING you study makes you smarter!
• We need to know what happened in the past so we don't keep making the same mistakes over and over
• We need to know what other cultures are like so that we are not so afraid and prejudiced against them
• We need to know how other people do things because sometimes their ways work better than ours
• We need to know about the really bad things that happened in our past, like the World Wars and the Holocaust, because we NEVER want those things to happen again!

You know what, that is a very good question. We dont NEED to learn about the past.

it cant help us for any thing in life. School is a terribal thing. they force kids to study

Unfortunately, this person does not see the use of school in the first place. Proper grammar and spelling seem beyond him. Social studies teaches us not to make the same mistakes our forefathers made. It also teaches us that we have to learn to get along with each other or all of us die. When one group is discriminated against, we all lose. People like Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, Hitler, Churchill, Roosevelt, and many others give us guides about what to do and what not to do in our social environment.

will because you have to know how we got molded into this country and how we became to know important dates of thegreat past to learn early civilizations and about how something even cease to exist not evolution I mean like Egypt the seven wonders of the world you ancestors so yes it can be a bore but keep in mind this is hoe we were built.
People study social studies to learn about their past and present times. You learn about mistakes and inventions made in history. You get to learn more about your own past, race, ethnicity, and more. History is great to learn because you learn of people who lived before you and your time period.
Unless a person is going to live in SOLITUDE; he'll NEED to "know & learn" HOW TO LIVE WITH OTHER PEOPLE; Society.
Social Studies helps you learn about a place, location, region, human/environmental interactions, and movements.
most universities do not accept students, if they do not have at least one humanities subject

But you shouldn't even ask this question because social studies is fun and it is just like listnening to a story.
Social studies is important because people think that we need to know how our ancestors screwed up the world and how other people tried to fix it but all they did was make it worse and people say that social studies is important because we need to know the amazing things people did before our time. Then why are people always saying live in the now not in the past, it makes no sense now does it.

You would study inequality and injustice to know what others go through and to know how not to mistreat others. Hopefully, everyone will learn enough to help form a society that is free of the problems that cause inequality, discrimination, and injustice.
