An instrument used to find out the air temperature
A clinical thermometer measures the max temp of the human body due to the expansion of the mercury in the bulb, which flows past a kink in the column and rises in the graduated stem, to read the highest body-temp. Once it is removed from the body, the mercury stays at that level, and does not fall because it cannot flow back into the bulb -- the kink prevents the back flow. It has to be shaken vigorously, as you know, for us to get the mercury back; then it is ready to take the temp again.. Also, the temp cannot rise further on its own from the max reading because the mercury does not expand the moment the thermometer is taken out of the body. Incidentally, temp can be measured under the armpits and in the rectum also.
yes it can i left a 50C max temperature thermometer in my truck in the sun for 20 Min's and it exploded. No idea if there was any noise with this event, but the base red part was completely blown away with no signs of any of glass fragments. I'm guessing it had to have hit 70C as I've been in a dry sauna before at 75C and it felt much the same. Hot to the point that you can not move at any speed cause the air feels like open flame near your face. cheers if anyone gets bored enough one day to put a 50C thermometer in a pot of water with a digital thermometer and actually test this i'd be curious to know the answer! p.s. never leave a pet in any vehicle unattended without a window open.
Planck didn't have an element named after him, but he has a fundamental physical constant named after him, the Planck constant. And, because it is a fundamental physical constant, it has "spawned" a "group" of units (called Planck units) that are interrelated because they all contain the Planck constant. The Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology and the Max Planck Institute of Biological Cybernetics on the Max Planck Campus are named after him. The Max Planck Society (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft) operates some 80 research institutes all over Germany, (and a few in other European countries), which usually bear the name "Max Planck Institute (MPI) of ...". The Society does basic research in the natural sciences, but also does work in the social sciences and humanities. Links are provided.

the sixth thermometer
Usually, max 212 F and min 32 F It depends on for what the thermometer will be used. My greenhouse min/max thermometer has a min of -40°F and a max of 120°F A (non-digital) clinical thermometer has a min of 94°F and a max of 108°F A cook's (sugar/jam) thermometer has a min of 100°F and a max of 400°F

Otherwise known as a Maximum - Minimum thermometer.Records the max and min temperature, at the position of a couple of small metal riders.A u-tube, each arm a few inches long. The lower part of the U contains mercury, and there will be a small metal bit (a rider) above the mercury in each arm. One of the arms is otherwise filled with alcohol, and the other arm will have a vacuum or alcohol under low pressure. As the alcohol arm expands, it will depress the mercury column in that arm, and thus elevate the mercury column in the other. The riders are pushed up their respective tubes by the mercury as appropriate. When the temperature changes and the mercury withdraws, the metal bits will remain in position, (by a weak magnet) thus recording the max (or min) temperature in that column. There is usually a small push button, which moves the weak magnet away from the columns, thus allowing the metal riders to fall to the top of the mercury columns. The temperature read at both ends of the mercury column (bottom of the riders) should be the same.

The maximum penalty for sending alcohol through the mail is the death penalty or imprisonment for life. The person convicted of mailing alcohol which results in the death of another person, will be subject to the maximum penalty.
The max ABV for beer varies by state. Refer to this chart to see if your state specifically has a beer abv cap. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_alcohol_laws_of_the_United_States_by_state
Industrial distilled ethanol (not from fermentation) can be obtained at 99,999 %.Ethanol from fermentation has a concentration of max. 96 %.
Mercury expands on heating.so at noon when the sun is overhead in the thermometer the Mercury expands and pushes the index down. And then the alcohol which is half filled in the maximum tube rises.then the max.temp is taken.
