Grendel is not a monster , it is a "tribe" living in pre danish "Denmark" defending their land against danes, invading from the east "sweden", it might have been rather difficult, and the danes was helped by their allied "geates"
The Danes wanted to be prepared for Grendel's attack. They would not have time to put on armour while the beast was attacking.

Beowulf owed Hrothgar a favor because Hrothgar helped Beowulf's father in time of need. Additionally, Beowulf is looking to prove himself as a warrior.
Hrothgar requests that Beowulf defeat Grendel, Grendel's mother, and a dragon that threatened his kingdom. Additionally, he asks Beowulf to continue to be a leader and protector of his people after the battles are won.

In the epic poem "Beowulf," Grendel is a monster who terrorizes the kingdom of the Danes. He represents evil and chaos, and his defeat by Beowulf showcases the hero's bravery and strength. Grendel's presence also sets the stage for the themes of good versus evil and the importance of heroism in the poem.
Beowulf had a more difficult time killing Grendel's mother because she was cunning and fierce, unlike Grendel who was more brutish. Grendel's mother also lived underwater in a hidden cave, making it challenging for Beowulf to track her down and fight her. Additionally, her lair was enchanted and filled with treasures, adding to the complexity of the battle.
He dies in the sea-cave lair of his mother. The open wound of his armless shoulder leads the Danes and the Geats with Beowulf to the spot, but they do not actually see the body at that time. Only after the second attack on Heorot does Beowulf find Grendel's body, at which point (presumably not longer protected by his charms as in life) Beowulf cuts off Grendel's head and returns with it to Heorot.
Beowulf shows bravery by fighting Grendel, his mom, and the dragon. Bravery is an Anglo-Saxon value. When Beowulf is fighting Grendel's mother his warriors stay and wait for Beowulf to come out of the water even after a long period of time. By them staying there and wishing Beowulf would come out the water alive they showed loyalty to Beowulf.
paid the Danes to leave them alone
Beowulf pretends to be sleeping as Grendel eats his sleeping men. This gives him time to assess Grendal's methods and weaknesses. Grendel is effectively caught off guard when Beowulf counterattacks.
It just says that everyone has their own time for death or fate. The Danes cared very much about changing their fate so they write about this often. But all this is really saying is that they strongly believe in fate and that everyone dies or reaches their fate at some point.
