Yes there should. But of course it depends on the degree of the charge. Most people who support the death penalty say murderers should be put under the penalty. This is correct; if you killed someone you deserve the same fate you gave that person.

That's a matter of some debate. Speaking only for myself, I believe that some crimes are so vicious and violent that no lesser penalty can ensure that the criminal will NEVER repeat this crime.

More than half of all murders in the United States are committed by people who have already murdered somebody. Capital punishment ensures that this murderer will never kill again.

There was a Wizard of Id cartoon years ago; a criminal on the gallows says to the King, "Capital punishment doesn't prevent crime!" The King's reply was "I'll believe that the next time I see you in my courtroom."
