No major plant groups died out at the end of the Mesozoic. However, most of the individual plants died because dust that was launched into the atmosphere by the asteroid impact blocked out the sun. However, once the dust settled after a few months. dormant seeds took hold.

The dinosaurs evolved at the beginning of the Mesozoic. All non avian dinosaurs died out 65.5. million years ago at the end of the Mesozoic. However, birds, which are a group of dinosaurs, are still alive and well.
