What sound? A sharp buzzing could mean that some of the windings of wire have become unglued...

Most Transformers emit a humming sound because they are not 100% efficient in transforming electric current. Some of that extra energy winds up as heat, some as motion which sets the surrounding air in motion which we can hear.
