If there is a red X on your media, the original source file can no longer be located by Windows Movie Maker. RED Xs mean the original media used in the project has either been changed, moved, or deleted and is no longer available.

Media with red Xs will have to be imported into the program again.

How do you syncronize sound to footage in movie maker?

There is no synchronization feature available in WMM (windows movie maker). The best you can do to sync the audio with the footage is by dragging the media along the time-line (and hope the sound lines up half-decent with the footage).Sorry, but WMM is a very basic video editing software application with limited features.

How can you put a quick time video on windows movie maker?

Quicktime is not a format you can import into WMM (windows movie maker). Nor is .mp4, .mov or .AVI < ---- (uppercase). These are the file name extensions (video formats) used by WMM:.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmvQuicktime videos need to be converted to one of the above mentioned file name extensions before they can be imported into WMM. Free video converters are available online (simply Google: free video converters).Once you have a converter downloaded, follow the program's conversion instructions making sure your "output source" is one of the extensions WMM uses. When you have successfully converted the Quicktime video, you will be able to import and edit it in the WMM program.

If you publish a movie in Movie Maker can you still edit it?

Yes, you can still edit a movie/video that has been published in WMM (windows movie maker). However, you would be editing the published version of the project (not the original MSWMM project version). This is the best way to put a WMM video together, in my opinion. Using several WMM clips that you know for a fact are are compatible with the program (since you created and published them with it), makes movie/video producing much easier.I take smaller clips that I've published on WMM, import them back into the program in order to create different projects. The editing process on previously published WMM video/movies is the same.Upon completion of each new project, I publish it. That way I can continue to import and edit the video whatever way I choose.:)

How do I upload videos on to YouTube from WMM?

You need to Publish/Finish your WMM (Windows Movie Maker) project before you can upload them anywhere. Read this:Publishing/Finishing a WMM project** A WMM project is still in "unfinished" form (.MSWMM)and can only be viewed/edited in Windows Movie Maker.** A PUBLISHED/FINISHED WMM video is the "finalized" format. Before you can view your WMM (Windows Movie Maker) project on a media player, send it by email, or upload it anywhere, you first need to PUBLISH/FINISH the WMM project. This finalizes the project by means of "mixing down" audio/video properties.Note: The videos file name extension (or Properties) will automatically be changed to the .wmv (for computer playback) or other extension depending on the saving option. To Publish/Finish your WMM project:> With your project in the time-line view of WMM> Click on View and Tasks, to open the task pane> Under Publish to ---- (Windows Vista v2.6)> Under Finish Movie (Windows Xp v2.1)> Choose - This computer> Name the movie and select a destination to save it in(Choose/make a folder to save it in that you can access easily)> Click Next> Select option: Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)> Click Publish or Finish (depending on your WMM version)When the video is published/finished, you should be able to find it in the folder you saved it in. Click on it and it should open up in the media player you use. The file will also be in a format that will allow you to upload it, email it or burn it to CD/DVD.
