Is hacking one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States?

Yes, but it is only because of the numbers-bias. Anytime a new kind of crime is pioneered, it grows at a high percentage because a small numerical increase is correspondingly larger. (For example, an increase from 5 to 7 is a 40% increase, but an increase from 500 to 600 is only a 20% increase even though it is a numerically much larger increase.) Hacking is still a relatively uncommon crime compared with traditional crimes of petty theft or arson, but its relative increases are high.
