Shakespeare remains popular because his plays are about human qualities that remain today and that everyone possesses, so his plays are still reliable to everyone.

Also, his plays are mainly or most of the time about love and romance and everyone loves a good romantic play/DVD/what ever things you watch. Also, he always has drama's and dilemma's in his plays which makes it more exciting for everyone so that is why he and his plays are still so popular today.
Shakespeare remains popular because almost all of his plays have themes that are still relatable to people even to this day. Not only that, but Shakespeare was a master of the English language, and had a beautiful way of conveying his ideas. Everyone can find something in Shakespeare's plays, like the thought provoking themes his plays have. For example, in "Hamlet" the play is about the nature of insanity and death. The legendary "To be or not to be" monologue is about suicide and the question of if there is an afterlife. The most important thing to do is to not pass it off as overly complicated melodramas, and read it looking to really understand it.
