There are a number of different things electromagnetic energy is used for. Some of those things include radio and TV waves, ultra-violet light, and X-Rays.

I assume you mean "ultra violet light." It can be used for many things, including just for funn at nightclubs and varius parties (ultra violet makes white things glow under them) or they are sometimes used on crime scenes to see if blood has been wiped of a surface.
The answer depends on which way you consider t be "beyond". The context in which the prefix "ultra" is used suggests that the colours are not beyond violet light.

What you can see with a light microscope is limited by the wavelength of light. Transmission electron microscopes use electrons as "light source" and their much lower wavelength makes it possible to get a resolution a thousand times better than with light microscope.
