Depends on what you are connecting. If using MIDI, you'll need a good USB-MIDI device. If using audio, you'll just plug the output into a 1/4"-1/8" adaptor and plug that into your computer's audio input. I personally use a mono-stereo splitter into a mixer, then into my computer.
The dell computer laptops are great for students who need to research information, but they are not a long term computer. The memory is not sufficient enough to hold a large amount of information. Older people who want a computer to talk to their families would find this computer ideal as well.

Personally any puter with a solid state hard drive with tons of memory and a top of the line game card.
