Why venus is a warm planet?

Best Answer

The average temperature on Venus is about 464 °C (867°F).

It is this hot because it is the second planet from the Sun, and has what scientists call a 'runaway greenhouse effect'. The planet is surrounded by a thick atmosphere of carbon dioxide, with an upper layer of clouds made of sulfur dioxide and sulphuric acid. This traps infrared radiation, raising the surface temperature of the planet. The entire planet is roughly the same temperature all of the time, even at the poles and even at night.

So although the clouds of Venus reflect 60% of the sunlight reaching it, they maintain a temperature as hot as (or hotter than) Mercury, which is much closer to the Sun.

Venus is a extremely hot planet because there is a "greenhouse effect". Most of the sunlight is blocked out by the thick clouds in Venus's atmosphere, but some of the sunlight gets in. The sunlight that is inside Venus's atmosphere is unable to escape. Because of this, temperatures on Venus keep on getter hotter. The current temperature is about 860 degrees F.

Venus is so hot (464 °C or 867 °F) because its thick atmosphere and clouds hold in the heat it receives from the Sun. This makes it the hottest planet, even hotter than Mercury, even though Mercury is very much closer to the Sun.

Venus is hot because of the atmosphere that traps heat much like our Earth.

Greenhouse gases are things like carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
