God promised Abraham that by means of his seed , all the nations would bless themselves. Thus, thru his second son Isaac and then grandson Jacob (also known as Israel), after 1900 years, Jesus would be born to Joseph and Mary, who were both descendants of king David in the tribe of Judah.
Abraham was promised by God that by his seed all nations would bless themselves.
So, the promise was that through one of his descendants that all mankind would be blessed. So one of the ways to verify the coming Messiah would be to identify him as a descendant of Abraham.
Abraham was one of Jesus ancestors.
You can confirm this by the genealogy of Jesus recorded in these two scriptures:
(Matthew 1:1-16) 1 The book of the history of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham: 2 Abraham became father to Isaac; Isaac became father to Jacob; Jacob became father to Judah and his brothers; 3 Judah became father to Pe′rez and to Ze′rah by Ta′mar; Pe′rez became father to Hez′ron; Hez′ron became father to Ram; 4 Ram became father to Am·min′a·dab; Am·min′a·dab became father to Nah′shon; Nah′shon became father to Sal′mon; 5 Sal′mon became father to Bo′az by Ra′hab; Bo′az became father to O′bed by Ruth; O′bed became father to Jes′se; 6 Jes′se became father to David the king. Because he was and is the father of our faith, (Romans 4.15).
Mohammed, Jesus, Abraham, Sidharta/Buddha...
To Jews, Abraham was the founding Patriarch, while Jesus and Muhammad, although good men, were not important in their faith. To Christians, Jesus was the Son of God, while Muhammad was merely a man who sought to add his views to the religion. To some fundamentalist Christians, Muhammad was an imposter. To Muslims, Abraham and Jesus were great prophets, but Muhammad was the last and greatest of the prophets.
Abraham is considered thefather of the Jewish people. including Joseph the father of Jesus.
Different views:God is important because he created the world. Jesus is important because he is the son of God.God is important because He is your Creator and you worship him as the one and only one God (Allah in Arabic) and you ask for His forgiveness and for His support and for accepting you in His Paradise. Jesus is important because he is one of the five Greatest God prophets (Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad; Peace be upon them all).
Since the Jews believed that they were all, without exception, descended from the legendary Abraham, they could all be called sons of Abraham. Thus Jesus was the "son of Abraham".
In chronological order, they are: Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and Paul.
This appears in the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew's genealogy in Chapter 1 shows that Jesus descended from Abraham.
Ishmael was the son born to Hager , Abraham's slave, and as Abraham is the father of the Jewish nation, and Jesus was a Jew, he is related.
Yes. The Israelites and the Arabs are all descendants of Abraham.
