The Eyptian people didn't accept Akhenaten because he was actually created by a pharaoh who wanted the Eyptian people to become monotheistic, or to have one god. And by the way, Akhenaten wasn't the sun god. His symbol looks like a sun though. I think Ra was the sun god.
