The cast of The Story of Cain and Abel - 2005 includes: Victor Olenev as Abel Irena Oleneva as The Lord Alexander Shnurov as Cain
A:The story of Adam and Eve was a highly sophisticated moral tale. The story of Cain and Abel, by the same author, continued the theme of God's creation and told how we are to please God. Written at a time when God rewarded burnt sacrifices, it tells how he was pleased by Abel's sacrifice of a young lamb, but displeased by Cain's sacrifice of grain. Cain's envy of Abel and his murder of Abel are incidental to this story. The story of Cain and Abel establishes the theme that the very best meat must be sacrificed on the altar to God, repeated later through the Old Testament. Perhaps the early priests who partook of the offerings were anxious to ensure a proper fare.
I'm not sure we know since salvation is written about more clearly in the New Testament. But clearly there are Old Testament characters who are saved. The first human we read about who pleased God is Abel. He made a sacrifice to God which pleased God. Then he was killed by Cain. We can only assume Abel was viewed as righteous by God. The next character in scripture that we find pleased God is Enoch as I recall. All we know is the Enoch "walked with God" and was no more, meaning God took him from earth. The term "walked with God" infers obedience to God and relationship with God. Adam and Eve sinned and God provided animal skin as a covering over their nakedness. In scripture this is a type of "covering" that might refer to salvation, but this is not as clear to me as the stories of Abel and Enoch. I'd be interested to hear if there are others recorded in scripture that were "saved" before either of these two.
A:In the biblical story, Abel does seem to have provoked Cain to anger, but not intentionally. He knew that God would be pleased by a sacrifice of tender meat, so made an offering of a young lamb. God was so pleased with this offering that Cain could not fail to notice. Cain only offered the grain that he, as a farmer, grew, which displeased God. Cain's murder of Abel was incidental to this story which was really about how to please God. The story establishes the theme that the very best meat must be sacrificed on the altar to God, repeated later through the Old Testament. Perhaps the early priests who partook of the offerings were also anxious to ensure a proper fare.
The first murder was committed when Cain slew Abel in the book of Genesis. What the Bible tells us is Cain was jealous over his brother's sacrafice pleased God while Cain's did not. People have killed for much less. The Bible tells us God asked Cain the whereabouts of Abel and Cain answered 'Am I my brother's keeper?' But Abel's blood cried out to God from the Earth where it was spilled. God exiled Cain to the land of Nod.
A:According to the Book of Genesis, Cain and Abel wewre the first two people to be born on earth, which is probably reason enough to be famous. They are also famous as the characters in a story about how to please God, a story in which Cain murders Abel. Abel knew that God would be pleased by a sacrifice of tender meat, so his offering was a young lamb. God was so pleased with this offering that Cain could not fail to notice. Cain only offered the grain that he, as a farmer, grew, and this displeased God. Rather than placating and encouraging Cain, who was hurt by the rejection of his offering, God scolded him for showing his feelings. Cain rose up and murdered Abel, but this was incidental to the story which was really about how to please God. The story establishes that the very best meat must be sacrificed and shared with the priests.
