As a pesticide/insecticide.
Why did the United States ban the use of DDT?
After my knowledge the use of DDT is banned in USA, with the exception of use for health.
No, DDT is used against mosquitoes which are vectors of malaria.
Prairies are grasslands in North America.
DDT was used in the later 1950's and early 1960's for the erradication of mosquitoes, and other insects. It pretty much cured the Malaria in America and a great deal of the world. It was banned and now once again we are having a problem with Malaria and other insect borne infections.

DDT is very efficient against mosquitoes.
One should not use DDT directly on another person. That will have serious side effects. If DDT is to be used, it should be used sparingly and only sprayed in places that mosquitos will congregrate.
not allowed
North America is a continent.
The peregrine falcon, found nearly worldwide, is not an endangered species. In North America, the species was declining due to the pesticide DDT, but have began a nice recovery after this chemical was banned.
Borrowed, taken, used, you name it. Canada is in North America.
Yes, DDT is still being used in few countries as a pest control chemical for the agricultural field. Primarily, it is being used in countries of the Indian subcontinent and some agriculture-dependent countries of Asia. As traditional pest control chemical, DDT is not only used by farmers but also used by some professional pest control companies for pest treatment.
