FDR was first and foremost, one of the greatest Presidents we have ever had. Having said that, he was criticized by people. He was born into a very wealthy and prominent family in New York. Manyn people from his social circles, felt betrayed when he initiated the New Deal and other progressive measures. There were some progressives that opposed him when he tried to pack the Supreme Court in 1936. Many people thought he was over-reaching and thought his actions were unconstitutional. He was trying to get rid of those on the Court that were holding up his agenda. Conservative Republicans were always a thorn in his side but they were always in the minority while he was President. The fact he won reelection 4 times and led out country out of the Great Depression and WWII, makes him a hero in my book. When he died of a heart attack in April 1945, the country came together and mourned his passing! As they say all the time but its definitely true here, there will never be another FDR or his wonderful wife, Eleanor. I have always thought she has been the most respected and beloved first lady we have ever had! Together, the were right for America and our country was made better because of both of them!!!
