The Ford model T was successful because of many factors but most of all it was inexpensive. When the model T was first introduced it sold for around $850. This compared to other vehicles selling for 2, 3, or 4 times as much. At that time in our history only the rich could afford an automobile. Those automobiles were very complicated and hard to maintain. It almost required you have your own personal mechanic. The model T was simple to build, simple to operate, and easy to repair. Lots of people could afford the price of the early Model T and by the time production ended in the late 20s the price had dropped to $250 which anyone could forward. When production ceased on the Model T Ford had sold over 15 million worldwide and it was the number one selling car in the world.

black Henry Ford said you could get a Model T in any color...as long as its black The above answer is not 100% correct. In fact the 1908 to 1914 Model T was not even available in black and were all painted Grey, Green, Blue, & Red. In 1912 all cars were painted Blue with Black fenders. From 1914 to 1926 they were all indeed painted black, so the above answer is only true after 1914.

Some of Shakespeare's early plays were very successful, particularly the Henry VI plays and Titus Andronicus. He may have written some clunkers before that which we don't know about, so it is difficult to say that he was immediately successful.
