She was the main reason much of the Kennedy presidency and historical accomplishments were preserved long enough to generate a life of their own in inspiring several generations of Americans into public service. She presented an image of what the best in American fashion, parenthood, and culture could look like.

Jacqueline Kennedy was born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, the first of two daughters of a prominent Wall Street stock broker, John Vernou Bouvier III, and Janet Norton Lee. She grew up in a privileged environment, though unconventional for her time period and social class as her parents had divorced while she was young and her mother re-married. Around the time Jacqueline Bouvier met then Representative John F. Kennedy, she was an inquiring photographer for the Washington-Times Herald. A graduate from George Washington University with a bachelor of arts degree in French literature, she was often around the political environment of the area and ran around in the same social circles as Representative Kennedy often. She was engaged for three months to a young stock broker named John Husted -- but after being formally introduced to John Kennedy by a mutual friend at a dinner party, she broke off the engagement and the rest became history.
Caroline Kennedy does not have a gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery; however, her father, President John F. Kennedy, is buried there. She has often been associated with the site due to her family's legacy and her role in preserving her father's memory and contributions. Additionally, her mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is also buried nearby, solidifying the family's presence at Arlington. Caroline has been an influential figure in honoring her family's history and their impact on American society.
