Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and of the larger Mormonism movement revere Joseph Smith as a prophet, equal with those in the Bible. Mormons believe that Jesus Christ restored the doctrine and authority of the New Testament Christian church directly to Joseph Smith, who then founded the Church under Jesus' direct supervision. Joseph Smith was also given an ancient record, which he translated by the power of God and published as the Book of Mormon, which is now considered sacred scripture equal with the Bible. Of course since that time there have been divisions, but all within the Mormonism movement believe in Joseph Smith as the foretold prophet who would restore all things and prepare the way prior to Christ's Second Coming. (see Isaiah 11:1, Isaiah 29:12, Malachi 3:1, Ezekiel 37)
Joseph Smith
Mormons are about the least 'loathsome' people in the world. They also do not idolize Joseph Smith.
Probably Joseph Smith, since he restored the church and was the one who lead them across the plains to the Salt Lake Valley.
Mormons.
Joseph Smith did not lead the Mormons to Utah at all. Joseph Smith was murdered in Illinois a year before the first group set out for the west. He did prophesy that eventually they would move to the Rocky Mountains, but he never did anything to lead them there.
Joseph Smith rejected all of it.
No, it is forbidden by the Word of Wisdom given by Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith? Joseph Smith, Jr. is considered a prophet by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church). He is regarded just as Moses, Abraham, Isaiah, and other Biblical prophets are. Mormons believe that Jesus Christ restored the truth and authority of the original New Testament Christian Church to Joseph Smith.
John Smith had nothing to do with Mormonism. Perhaps you are thinking of Joseph Smith, who founded Mormonism, and whom Mormons consider to be a prophet.
I was thinking it was the 'Book of Mormons.' The Book of Mormon.
for the Mormons I'd have to say Joseph Smith did... that is if you believe all that he said had happened to him.
No. Joseph Smith, Jr. never lived in England. His lineage is from England, however. His great-grandfather's grandfather Robert Smith (Joseph's great-great-great-grandfather) moved to Massachusetts from England in 1638.
