Because he hand picked her.

The makers of the video originally picked a different girl, who was shown at the beginning of the video with the cell phone scene. However Justin was reluctant in choosing Kristen, making sure she was chosen as the love interest instead of the other girl. (It's why she wasn't featured in the beginning of the video.)
