The moluccas had this key lucrative,commodity but had to import most of their foodstuff from other islands : sago and rice , for example came from halmahera , ambon and bacan , cloves were exchanged for clothing , silk porcelain , gold , silver , knives , glass and other items.
This is completely my opinion but in the quick research I did, it says these bats are Tropical Forests mammals and it probably stays warm enough where they don't have to migrate to a place that is warmer to hibernate.
