We should remember Napoleon because he was one of the finest military commanders in history. Following the Revolution & the Reign of Terror Napoleon is given command of the Army of Italy, against the Austrians. His campaigning is brilliant & his rise meteoric. The Code Napoleon to this day forms much of the basis of Law in France: As an administrator Napoleon is phenomenal. As time passes the defeats in Russia, at Leipzig & finally at Waterloo end his reign. It is undoubted that Napoleon changes France out of all recognition, despite the failings that Napoleon had, in terms of the French & France, Napoleon Bonaparte was very good indeed.

An effort to improve the plight of working class citizens and the French infrastructure. He ended the terror stabilized the economy, established controls on inflation and ended food shortages. At times he failed to use the Merit system that he required from others and can be accused of giving preference to members of his family with solid justification. He ruled with a strong hand and not always in the best interests of France.

Napoleon Bonaparte will be remembered for his brillaint plans to invade other lands such as the british.He tricked them into gaining their trust then tresspassing them into starting a war and because the country's didn't see it comming they couldn't stand it and got overcommed by the power he had.So he will always be remembered for his shcemes.

He was possibly the greatest General of modern times, a great leader and has some stunning victories to his credit. Austerlitz & Jena are the high points. Waterloo and the Russian winter mark the lows in his career.
