by use of the veto.
Don't they use checks and balances? That's my answer.
No, the executive branch is not only allowed to veto. The executive branch has various powers, including enforcing laws, negotiating treaties, and appointing officials. Veto power is one of the tools the executive branch can use to influence legislation passed by the legislature.
The current (and recent) executive branch has taken much more power unto itself than is proper. Through the use of 'executive order' and other misused tools, the Executive branch as corrupted the careful balance of power and made itself supreme.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt invoked executive power primarily through the use of executive orders to implement his New Deal policies aimed at addressing the Great Depression. One notable example was Executive Order 6102, which mandated the surrender of gold coins, gold bullion, and gold certificates to the Federal Reserve. This action was part of a broader strategy to stabilize the economy and restore public confidence in the banking system. Roosevelt's use of executive power was crucial in enacting swift reforms without waiting for congressional approval.
