Blubber is told from the narrative of a bully. Eventually the bully starts to become bullied and the story evolves into how the main character deals with it. In the story the bullies are never punished or dealt with. It was considered the wrong message that parents didn't like.

Blubber was banned because its production involved inhumane treatment of whales, which led to concerns about conservation and animal welfare. Additionally, there were also health concerns related to the high levels of contaminants, such as Mercury, found in blubber.
