To protect people and their freedom of speech, their right to clean water, and the basics needed for human survival. Torturing people without a just reason is a violation of human rights. Guantanamo Bay is one of the biggest violations of human rights in the modern world.
Clean water isn't exactly a 'human rights' issue...

This came about due to the Socialist Party's (Nazi) reliance on terror tactics to build their power base and financial strength up, which resulted in the deaths of millions of Jews, Romani ("Gypsies"), Homosexuals, and many other "minorities".
