It depends on what you mean by "one". Irene was not the only tropical cyclone to make landfall in the US in 2011. Tropical Storm Lee made landfall in Louisiana. IF you're talking about hurricanes, that's pure coincidence.

The Hurrican caused 48 deaths and had winds measured at 140 mph before heading to Florida which reported 3 deaths. Another Hurricane Struck in 1932 called the 1932 Bahamas Hurricane had winds estimated at 160 mph (est.) but with only 16 fatalities.
Florida will almost certainly be hit be a tropical storm or hurricane in the future, perhaps even this year. But it is impossible to say when or when in the state it will hit. The only active Atlantic hurricane at this time, Irene, is not expected to hit Florida.

Hurricane names become available for re-use on a six year rotation. It is only if a storm is particularly bad that the name is retired from re-use.
Only one of the 4 Hurricane Karls made landfall, Hurricane Karl in 2011. Hurricane Karl rapidly intensified in the Bay of Campheche before making landfall on Veracruz, Mexico as a category 3 hurricane.
