He liked it because a lot of native Americans went there and helped the mission so he decided that would be his favorite mission.
mission carmel
It was Father Junipero Serra.
Father Junipero Serra
san carlos or mission carmel
second mission in the mission cahin- considered most retty of all the missions- father serra buried there
The current Carmel Mission church is constructed from stone. The first church was constructed of limestone and adobe. The construction on the new church was overseenÊby Father Fermin Lasuen.
Yes it was rebuilt in 1771 because father Serra wanted distance between soldiers and the mission followers
First in Monterey, then Father Junipero Serra moved it to Carmel.
Father Serra was buried in the Monterrey Bay not buried under the church floor (near the altar) of the Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo better known as the Carmel Mission
What was so important about the mission carmel? Well the indians were forced to live there the missionaries took the land of the natives they have worked so hard to make the missions witch is a church we still remember the natives and father serra after they tried to escape the missionaries would whip them to death and go to prison and all of the mission still works im a 4th grade student named natalie doing a project hope u got good facts in your brain thank you.
There weren't "presidents " of missions and Serra is associated with Carmel the most. His grave this there. Of the 21 missions Carmel is one of the prettiest, but my favorite is Padula located in a valley of old oaks. It seems the most authentic to me of all the missions.
Father Serra is buried there. In the cemetery
