Well, it all just started with an idea for a new toy. Bonnie Zacherle was the inventor of the original my little pony in 1982 (which at that time was My Pretty Pony). It was just a normal looking pony toy, until Hasbro later bought it, changed it's name to My LITTLE pony, and decided to turn it into a show to help sell the toys. The ponies were colorful in the show, so they became colorful toys. 3 generations of mlp went by before G4 (the modern mlp) was created when Lisa Licht(sp?) asked Lauren Faust to revive the show, and the rest is history.
