First off, it's "Why were robots invented?"
Second, the reason why robots (be it kitchen appliances up to walking and feeling humanoid prototypes) were invented was to try and make life easier on human kind, which it has significantly.
Think about it this way, how would you cook your morning toast quickly and easily without a toaster?
