Rome is one of the foundations of Western history. They controlled a large part of the ancient world and invented many things we still use. They invented the dome, highways, arenas, apartment buildings, malls, water systems, cement, sandals, centralized government, arches, and many other things. Our world wouldn't be what it is today without Rome. The city of Rome today is still the crossroads of the world.
