In 1947 when Elizabeth Short was killed technology was primitave compared to what we have now. But serial killers don't usually know their victims. When there is no link between killer and victim it makes it that much harder to find the killer.

The Black Dahlia killer was never caught largely due to a lack of definitive evidence and the case's complexity. The investigation faced challenges such as public attention, media sensationalism, and a lack of advanced forensic technology at that time. Additionally, the killer may have had knowledge of police procedures, allowing them to evade capture.

Who killed Suzanne Degnan?

William Heirens confessed and was convicted for the murder of 6 year old Suzanne Degnan on January 7, 1946. He confessed to 2 more murders but later recanted all 3 confesstions. Better known as the lipstick killer, he left messages written in lipstick begging to be stopped before he could kill again. Incarcerated at Dixon Correctional Center in Dixon, IL, Heirens had pretty strong arguments concerning his innocence but was never given the new trial he requested. I think he has recently died in prison.

Well they robbed on foot or horse. ( Mostly foot.) They were mainly in Great Britain and Australia. They were in the nineteenth century. They never said Stand and Deliver In America they were known as Road Agents In Australia, they called them bush hangers. They always hid and caught people by surprise. The word Highwaymen was first used in 1617. Robin Hood was also a highwayman, but he never robbed from the rich to give to the poor. It was a male dominated occupation. There were also female highwaymen (Moll Cutpurse, Lady Elizabeth Mullgrew etc) They had their own language, known as cantig.
