It is being assembled in pieces because it's really the only way to do it. There isn't any other way. If we built the entire space station on earth, we wouldn't have a rocket big enough to launch it.
The International Space Station what constructed of many pieces launched and assembled over a period of time. Construction began in Nov 1998
In Space
The International Space Station (ISS) was built in various locations around the world, including the United States, Russia, Europe, Japan, and Canada. The modules and components were assembled in space over several years, starting in 1998.
The majority of the components of the International Space Station were constructed in the United States, but there are pieces from Canada, Russia and Japan. The ISS itself was assembled in orbit, and new modules have been added every couple of years.
Space stations are assembled in space, section by section. The sections are pre-assembled on earth in pieces small enough to be carried into space by rockets, then removed from the rockets and attached to the existing station.
It began to be assembled in orbit in 1998.
Construction of the International Space Station began in 1998, with the launch of the first module, Zarya, by the Russian space agency. The station has since been assembled piece by piece through a series of space missions involving multiple countries.
The International Space Station (ISS) is being assembled in space rather than on Earth because it is a complex structure that needs to be launched into orbit. It is not possible to build it on Earth and then launch it into space in one piece due to its size and weight. Instead, it is being assembled piece by piece in space by multiple space agencies from different countries, using space shuttles and other spacecraft.
The International Space Station (ISS) was a collaborative effort involving multiple space agencies including NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, and CSA. It was assembled in space over several years using modules launched on different rockets by these space agencies.
The International Space Station was assembled in space and is designed to stay there. It is meant as a place of research and as a place for astronauts to stay in space. A space shuttle is a vehicle that can lauch from Earth into space and then return, something a space station cannot do. Space shuttles transport people and equipment to and from space.
It is named the International Space Station or ISS.
