It has not been renamed but though the Red Cross claims it is just the Swiss flag with the colors reversed, the cross is still a religious symbol. The Muslim countries refused to recognize it so they use the Red Crescent or Red Sun and Lion which are officially recognized by the Red Cross as subsidiaries. However, when the Israelis raised the same issue and began using Magan David Adom (the Red Star), the Red Cross refused to recognize it and has been refusing for nearly 60 years.
