The answer to this is as obvious as why is there slavery. The cast system is very much like apartheid. with apartheid it was easer to uphold because of the obvious physical racial differences. the cast system ce3pt the poor apart wit a view to using their labor at the lowest possible price. the poor had no influence on the status quo and the rich taught them what they felt they needed to know. It all worked very well until outside forces started to educate these poor beggars.
