Why did the League of Nations fail during World War 1?

Sanctions against Germany were too severe resulting in severe economic hardship that caused the German people to seek an alternative. Hitler, although a bad choice, was perceived as their only option at the time.Which war?The League of Nations didn't even exist in WW1. The above answer is off topic and meaningless. The league of Nations DID exist...In an effort to avoid future destructive conflicts, at the end of WWI, the diplomats who gathered for the Paris Peace Talks created The League of Nations. Their main principal, of course, was to maintain world peace. The league had two major flaws that ultimately caused it's failure. First, was the lack of power it held to enforce decisions made by the league. Second, it relied on collective security as a tool for the preservation of world peace. The basic premise underlying collective security arrangements was the argument the concept that aggression against one state was considered aggression against ALL states, which had pledged to aide one another.

What effect would the league of nations have on America?

Well, the League of Nations could of had a variety of effects on America, it could of either promoted peace and or caused larger conflicts that would embellish all the countries in the league of nations, to go to war. Nevertheless, its effect upon America I believe would of been very parallel to that of the United Nations, which was signed after the conclusion of WWII.

How did the Wall Street Crash effect the league of nations?

The Wall Street Crash effected the League because it caused reluctant members such as Britain and France less likely to impose sanctions on countries such as Japan when they invaded Manchuria. The Great depression also caused countries such as Japan and Italy to be more aggressive, therefore they invaded countries such as Manchuria and Abyssinia to aid with their recovery and to do with national pride. Due to Britain and France not placing any sanctions further undermined League and led to their inevitable failure.

Why was Germany not allowed to join the League of nations?

Because, under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany took sold responsibility for the outbreak of WWI. Because Germany caused the war they were not allowed into the league.

How did democracy cause World War Two?

I don't really think that democracy caused WWII. There were many other factors which contributed much more (if democracy did indeed cause it!) these were; An aggressive Germany under Hitler appeasement (namely by France and Britain) failure to recognize a true threat bitterness of Germans at their treatment at Versailles failure of the league of nations and so on.... i think to ask how democracy caused WWII is very vague as democracy did not cause WW2 at all!

Who was part of the League of Nations?

After World War I the US president at the time thought that the best way to prevent a future war would be to create a League of Nations(our United Nations today). The League of Nations were the leaders of all of the countries involved in the war; France, Britain, America- except Germany. By keeping Germany out of the League and making them pay for the damage caused by the war it would create the German people after living in poverty for years elect Adolf Hitler into office and would later create WWII.
