They believed that the heart was the thing that you made all your decisions with. They also thought it would be necessary in the afterlife, especially when Anbuis was judging your life by weighing your heart against the Feather of Truth.

The heart was left in the mummies.
When the ejyptions mummified people they left the heart inside the body and didn't disturb it as they thought it controled the body (they thought the brain just produced snot).
Egypt isn't allowing the export of mummies and Egyptian artifacts anymore. Unless you go to the oldest Egyptology museums (London) or Egypt itself, you're pretty much out of luck. Or if your question is where all the jewels and stuff went while the mummies were left alone, that's because of grave robbers. Ancient Egyptian grave robbers only left the mummies for us to find, and about 60 of the mummies found in the valley of the kings were moved by priests to protect them from grave robbers. Ironically, they stripped them of everything they had as payment. Even the gold on the coffins was scraped off. Which was one of the most disrespectful and despicable things to do at the time.
All of them, if some were left in the body, the body would rot.

The heart

Nothing, only the heart was left in the body.
Yes, the heart was left inside because the Ancient Egyptians thought that it was the center of Intelligence and feeling. The organ was also left inside the body so the God Anubis would weigh the persons heart against the feather of truth to determine where he would go in the underworld. Hope that helps :)
It is thought that the Egyptians left the heart in the body because they believed it was where the soul sat. It also needed to be weighed on the journey to the afterlife.it wasn't removed because the Egyptians believed that they would need their heart in the after life
Yup because the person needs it when it is weighed with the feather. If the heart weighs more than the feather then your soul gets devoured by a god.
The heart... The heart was left in the body so that the Egyptian god Anubis could weigh it prior to guiding the dead through the underworld.
