The League of Nations lacked its own army and relied on the Great Powers for the enforcement of economic sanctions as well as to provide armed forces when needed. The problem was that sometimes the Great Powers were reluctant to do so for various reasons and this rendered the League of Nations powerless and without recourse.

The League of nations did not have enough power, I also believe that not enough nations were involved for it to be effective. - I think there was another problem as well, perhaps something to do with no one authority keeping order? I can't really remember.

The United States did not enter the League of Nations. The President created the idea and wanted to join, but the congress did not want to get involved in foreign affairs across the ocean. Without the power of the US, the League failed to be a dominate force

The League of Nations was the predecessor of the United Nations - the League of Nations failed, and so, many years later in 1942 (I believe it was that year) they founded the United Nations as an improved "League of Nations."
