Madam CJ Walker
Even though it was used in ancient Egypt, Madame Walker invented the hot comb. The inventor of the comb is not known but the first person to lay patent to it was Madame Walker. The straightening comb is the most commonly used in modern times.
Hair straightening using a hot comb or relaxer has a long history among women & men of African descent, reflected in the huge commercial success of the straightening comb popularized by Madam C. J. Walker in the early 1900s.

Madam Walker did not make the straightening comb. It existed in the 1870s when she still was a child. She was born in 1867.

Garrett A. Morgan invented the de-curling comb. He was issued a US patent for the de-curling comb in 1953.
Annie Turnbo Malone obtained the first patent in 1900, but Madam CJ Walker (Sarah Breedlove) made improvements on the comb by widening the teeth for better result in straightening and prevention of tearing and breaking the hair. In later years after improvements, Walter Sammons obtained a patent on the pressing comb in 1920. By this time Madam CJ Walker (1867-1919) was dead. Walter Sammons did not invent the pressing comb.
