David Walker was a son of a slave who was born free and moved to Boston where he began a store selling old clothes to sailors. In the old clothes he sewed pamphlets that would be taken back to the south that had appeals on them telling blacks to start fighting back against the slave owners. For this the Southerns wanted him dead for $1,000 and brought back to the South for $10,000.

Hope this helps!!
