Tribal membership was critical in Arabia both historically and (to a lesser extent) currently for a variety of reasons. Tribal membership determined who you could interact with in terms of business and social ocassions, who you could marry, what religion you follow (now all Muslims, but previously diverse), what professions you would perform, how justice would be meted out for grievances, and where you could live.

Some were Jewish, like the Yemeni King Yusuf Dhu-Nawas, some were Christian, like the Chief of Najran Abdullah ibn ath-Thamir, but most were one of the several henotheistic cults that dominated Arabia.
At the time of the Prophet Muhammad, Mecca was a thriving city in southern Arabia. Arabian culture, even in urban centres, continued to be based around tribal loyalties, and there were several tribes in Mecca. However, Mecca was more than just an extension of tribal culture.
It was a tribal society. Various tribes were ruled by their eldermen.
By having your parents present their tribal identification cards to the tribal membership office, along with your birth certificate, and making a claim that you are their child and therefore entitled to membership in the Cherokee Nation. Or... You can use the historically inaccurate, and incomplete rolls (Dawes and Guion) along with certified records of ancestry and present that to the tribe.

This depends entirely on the requirements of the tribe in question. Matriarchal tribes will see her as the heir and you can be registered through her tribal offices; Patriarchal tribes will not see her as the sole designator of any tribal membership. Please note: Some tribes remove females from tribal roles if they marry outside the tribe. Again, you will have to check with her tribal services offices to find this answer.
